Patrick Funk struck from distance to give Germany a 1-0 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 1 win against Greece, who were reduced to ten men before the interval.
Georgios Georgiades's side looked to be in trouble after Kostas Triantafyllou was shown a second yellow card after 38 minutes. Goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino had pulled off some excellent saves to keep Greece in the game, but will have been disappointed by his attempt to block Funk's speculative effort just before the break. A goal and a man down, the visitors kept plugging away after the interval, but Germany had the better chances and were good value for their win, which maintains their 100% record after eight qualifiers.
