Substitute Pylyp Budkivskiy converted from an Andriy Bogdanov corner on 76 minutes in UEFA European Under-21 Championship Group 2 to earn a share of the points for Ukraine against ten-man Finland.
Yet to win in the section, Ukraine may have feared the worst after they fell behind in the fifth minute, with Juho Lähde firing the ball past Igor Berezovskiy from 20 metres following a corner. However, a straight red card for the visitors' Roope Riski on 36 minutes changed the tone of the game, though it took until the 76th minute for Budkivskiy to get the equaliser Pavlo Yakovenko's side had strived for.
Having gone behind so early, Ukraine responded with shots from Vitaliy Fedotov and Serhiy Kryvtsov, and Riski's dismissal ensured that Jesse Joronen had a busy night in the Finland goal. He repeatedly denied Bogdanov and saved from Anton Shevchuk before Budkivskiy beat him. The goalscorer had a second effort ruled out for offside, and Kryvtsov passed up further chances to win it before the final whistle.
