Scotland began UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 10 with a goalless draw against Bulgaria.
In a match where clear-cut chances were at a premium, it was Scotland goalkeeper Grant Adam who was marginally the busier, saving shots from Stanislav Kostov and Georgi Milanov in the space of six second-half minutes.
Scotland's only effort of note on target was a strike from Jordan Rhodes which was saved by Plamen Iliev. Bulgaria, who lost 1-0 to the Netherlands on Thursday, do not play again until 11 October. Scotland are in action twice before then − in Luxembourg on the 6th and four days later at home to Austria.
