An overhit back pass proved to be Andorra's undoing as Bryan Flynn's Wales kicked off their 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign with three Group 3 points.
Ryan Doble and Elliott Chamberlain both had efforts on target for Wales early on before Justo Ruiz's Andorra came unstuck on 21 minutes, with defender Armand Fajardo inadvertently putting the ball beyond his goalkeeper, Oriol Oliva. It was hard luck for Andorra who looked more competitive after the break, and had three shots on Rhys Taylor's goal without making the breakthrough. In the dying moments of the match Andorra's Alvaro Guevara had the chance to earn his side a point but the striker failed to find the target.
Andorra are at home against Montenegro in their next qualifier on 3 June. Wales, who reached the 2009 play-offs and only just missed out on reaching that stage two years later, will not be in action until they travel to face the same opponents on 6 September.
