Sport Event Denmark has been named as an official partner of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship which Denmark will host in June.
Established by the Danish government and the various national sporting associations in 1994, Sport Event Denmark's main objective is to attract and organise major international sporting events and congresses.
In its role as an official partner of the U21 finals, Sport Event Denmark will give significant local and international promotion to the tournament, which will be staged in Aalborg, Aarhus, Herning and Viborg from 11 to 25 June.
David Taylor, CEO of UEFA Events SA, said: "UEFA is delighted to welcome Sport Event Denmark on board as an official partner of the U21 tournament. Sport Event Denmark will give the championship a significant boost by providing valuable exposure for the tournament, as well as providing unmatched experience and expertise in supporting successful international events in Denmark."
Sport Event Denmark's chief executive, Lars Lundov, added: "We are very pleased to be an official partner – as well as working with the Danish Football Association [DBU] and the host cities – in terms of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Denmark. Being the governmental sport events organisation, we are very much looking forward to hosting this very important event in close cooperation with UEFA, the DBU and the four host cities."
Preparations for the finals have been ongoing since December 2008 when Denmark was announced as host – and with Sport Event Denmark on board, another piece of the jigsaw has fallen into place. The major Danish broadcaster TV 2 was named in July as UEFA's broadcast partner in the host country for the championship.
Sport Event Denmark has become the seventh global partner for the U21 tournament, following adidas, Carlsberg, Coca-Cola, Kia, McDonald's and Sharp agreements
