Northern Ireland were comfortable winners in their penultimate Group 5 match as Andrew Little scored twice for the hosts in a 4-0 rout of San Marino.
San Marino complete their fixtures without picking up a point and they soon fell behind at the Showgrounds in Coleraine, Little firing high into the goal in the fourth minute after being given too much time in the area. The home side doubled their lead when captain Ryan McGivern swept home a penalty on 15 minutes, but were made to wait before completing the scoring with two late goals.
Little added the third from the spot with five minutes to play after Alex Della Valle had been dismissed for a second bookable offence, then William Grigg hit the fourth in the second minute of added time. Northern Ireland are fourth in the section with seven points from seven games and conclude their campaign away to holders Germany on Tuesday.
