Mirko Oremuš scored one, created another and was sent off as Croatia defeated Serbia 3-1 in Varazdin to climb three places in Group 7 and join their neighbours on six points.
Great opener
Opportunities had been wasted by both sides when Oremuš collected the ball outside the box in the 32nd minute and fizzed a wonderful shot into the top right-hand corner of Branislav Danilović's goal. The HNK Hajduk Split attacker then provided the assist for the second seven minutes after the restart, charging down the right and crossing for Andrej Kramarić to score with ease.
Second yellow
The visitors halved the deficit in the 69th minute, Adem Ljajić teeing up Nemanja Tomić to give Serbia hope with plenty of time remaining. Their chances of drawing level seemingly increased when Oremuš was shown a second yellow in the 75th minute, although the all-important fourth goal went Croatia's way as substitute Krešo Ljubičić drove the ball across Danilović and into the opposite corner with seven minutes to play to seal maximum points for Dražen Ladić's hosts.
