A goal in each half from Milan Milanović and Danijel Aleksić gave Serbia victory over Cyprus in front of 4,000 fans in Novi Sad as Ratomir Dujković's side won for the second straight game in qualifying Group 7.
Milanović header
Serbia had lost their opening match in the section to early leaders Slovakia, but they restored confidence with a 1-0 success in Norway last month before gaining further momentum here against Cyprus. FC Lokomotiv Moskva's 18-year-old centre-back Milanović had scored Serbia's late winner in Fredrikstad on 9 September and was on target again, putting the hosts ahead when he nodded in Nemanja Tomić's 18th-minute corner.
Aleksić strike
Serbia dominated, but were guilty of missing several excellent chances and had goalkeeper Branislav Danilovic to thank for preserving their advantage when he brilliantly stopped Christos Efthymiou's 25-metre strike with ten minutes to play. Victory was only secured when substitute Aleksić, playing on his home ground, volleyed in Adem Ljajić's corner with a minute remaining to boost morale ahead of Tuesday's trip to Croatia. Cyprus have one win from four games and are next in action at home to Slovakia on Wednesday.
