Spain continued their successful start to qualifying for the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship with a comfortable 4-0 win away to Liechtenstein in Group 4.
Second success
Spain, disappointingly knocked out of this summer's finals in the group stage, started their latest quest for a U21 title with a 2-0 home win against Poland and maintained their momentum as goals from Daniel Parejo, Javi Martínez, Diego Capel and Aarón Ñíguez in Vaduz moved them to the head of the section.
Superior Spain
Juan Ramón López Caro's charges controlled the game from the outset, displaying superior technical ability and supplying plenty of pressure to the hosts' goal. Liechtenstein, who lost their first qualifier 2-0 in Poland, survived 15 minutes before Parejo ended their resistance and the result appeared assured when Martínez made it 2-0 eight minutes later.
Late goals
In the second half, Liechtenstein played a greater part but the tireless Capel struck the third on 82 minutes before substitute Ñíguez added a late fourth. Spain's next match is not until 13 November, when they entertain Finland, while Liechtenstein host Poland and Finland on 9 and 13 October respectively.
