Luxembourg won only their second-ever competitive Under-21 international, and first away from home, as they beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 in a Group 3 game that was marred by the dismissal of three players.
Deserved lead
It was just Luxembourg's second ever competitive win at this level, their first coming nearly 25 years ago on 20 November 1985 when they beat Belgium 3-1 in Ettelbruck. It was not until midway through the second half that the Koševo Stadium sprung into life with the dismissal of Bosnia-Herzegovina's Nedeljko Malić. Mirko Albanese was denied by home goalkeeper Dino Hamzić soon after Malić's departure but on 75 minutes, Luxembourg, who had been more positive from the off, made their numerical advantage count thanks to a goal from Naby Twimumu from just outside the penalty area.
Late dismissals
Both sides were reduced to ten men on 84 minutes when Clayton Moreira was shown a second yellow card, but Luxembourg held on to their lead and were assured of victory two minutes into added time when Bosnian substitute Ognjen Vranješ was given his marching orders.
