Goals in either half from Joselú and Daniel Parejo helped Spain to a 2-0 win over ten-man Poland as Juan Ramón López Caro's side got their 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign off to the best possible start in Oviedo.
Capel assists
La Roja, who were knocked out in the group stage at the 2009 finals, dominated the encounter at the Nuevo Carlos Tartiere Stadium and almost took the lead in the sixth minute when Parejo floated a free-kick on to the crossbar. Just seconds later, however, the hosts did hit the front and it was recent Real Madrid CF acquisition Joselú, who has since been sent back to RC Celta de Vigo on loan, who volleyed in Diego Capel's free-kick from the right.
Ideal start
The tireless Capel again turned provider for Spain's second shortly before the hour mark with Parejo jumping to head in the Sevilla FC attacker's set-piece. Poland opened their Group 4 account with a 2-0 win over Liechtenstein last June but their task here was rendered almost impossible when Grzegorz Krychowiak was ordered off with 25 minutes left to play.
