Romania made it two wins out of two in the qualifying round for the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship after a 4-0 success against the Faroe Islands in Torshavn.
Hosts' chance
Romania started the Group 1 encounter very well going close on two occasions within the first couple of minutes through Raul Rusescu and Constantin Gingioveanu. The hosts hit back immediately to create a great chance – what turned out to be their best opportunity of the game – but Rógvi Holm directed his header over the bar.
Goal glut
Gabriel Torje then hit the woodwork from a free-kick and with the pressure mounting, Romania took the lead in the 13th minute through Rusescu's fine shot from 20 metres which cannoned in off the bar. They doubled their lead before half-time when Gingioveanu got away down the right to beat home goalkeeper Trygvi Askham and made it three ten minutes after the break when Torje set up Rusescu to score easily. Askham was sent off soon after for handling outside the area and midway through the second half, the scoring was completed by Torje.
