Captain Steven Taylor and Daniel Welbeck will not travel to the UEFA European Under-21 Championship after pulling out of the England squad through injury.
Milner promoted
Newcastle United FC centre-back Taylor and Manchester United FC forward Welbeck both featured in a 23-man selection named by Stuart Pearce for the finals in Sweden last Wednesday, but will not be named in the final party submitted to UEFA this week. James Milner's participation could also be in doubt after the Aston Villa FC winger was promoted to the senior squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Andorra.
Azerbaijan friendly
England will take on Azerbaijan in Milton Keynes next Monday in their final friendly before departing for Sweden, where they face Finland, Spain and Germany in Group B.
