Article body
Denmark's victory against Scotland confirmed Finland as winners of Group 6 and they head into the play-offs off the back of a goalless draw in Velenje.
Play-off guarantee
Finland went into their final group match two points clear of Scotland and guaranteed a play-off spot as one of the four best-placed runners-up, irrespective of how their closest challengers fared in Denmark. That fact may have contributed to visiting goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola being by far the busier No1. The custodian saved Rene Mihelič's shot in the first half and twice thwarted Tim Matavz after the break.
Improved display
The away side were more creative after the interval with Tomi Petrescu and Tim Sparv going close but, in the end, the result was immaterial due to Denmark's win that saw them join Finland in the play-offs by virtue of goal difference. Both sides will learn their next opponents in the draw which will take place at the HSB Turning Torso Meetings skyscraper in Malmo, Sweden, from 12.00CET on 12 September.
