Kaimar Saag headed Estonia to their first points of UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying, ensuring the Baltic nation ended the Group 5 campaign on a high with a slender defeat of F.Y.R. Macedonia.
First goal
Estonia had lost their previous seven qualifiers, failing to score a single goal, but that changed after eleven minutes when Saag was in the right place to nod a header back across goal from centre-back Igor Morozov's flick. Saag, who plays his club football in Denmark for Silkeborg IF, had further chances as did strike partner Kristian Marmo but Estonia were unable to add to their lead. The result left the hosts on three points, five behind F.Y.R. Macedonia who complete their fixtures in Norway on 9 September.
