Article body
Denmark and Israel have submitted bids to UEFA to host the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
Close co-operation
UEFA will carry out inspection visits to the locations proposed in the bids from both interested countries, during which European football's governing body will have the chance to meet the key persons involved, both from the respective football associations and the national authorities. At the most recent Under-21 final tournaments, close co-operation with the host cities has been shown to be one of the main factors in ensuring the successful organisation of the event.
December decision
The inspection visits will take place between now and September after which UEFA will evaluate the two candidates and submit its report to the National Team Competitions Committee in the course of October. The Committee will discuss the bids on 27 November and issue a recommendation to the UEFA Executive Committee. The latter will take the final decision on 16-17 December 2008.
Netherlands champions
The 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Championship was held in the Netherlands, and Sweden will host the 2009 edition between 15 and 29 June next year. The Netherlands are the current champions having won the competition in both 2006 in Portugal and last year on home soil.
