Scotland down perfect Finland

Pressure told
The Group 6 leaders fell behind to Steven Naismith's low effort on 29 minutes but equalised eleven minutes later when Kasper Hämäläinen collected the ball on the edge of the area before turning and curling a shot beyond Jamie McDonald. However, just when it looked like Finland would hold on for a point in the face of concerted Scottish pressure, Kevin McDonald drilled the ball past Tomi Maanoja with seven minutes remaining.

The defeat means Finland lose their 100 per cent record and can be overtaken by second-placed Denmark whom they lead by two points – their next game is in September against Denmark – while Scotland remain third.

Well-worked
Scotland went ahead with a free-kick straight from the training ground. The ball was worked to Jamie Hamill, who in turn fed Naismith, whose low drive from distance took a deflection on its way into the net. However, Scotland's joy was short-lived as Hämäläinen's perfectly placed effort restored parity five minutes before the break.

McDonald strike
After the interval Scotland pressed their opponents back and were rewarded when the impressive Ross McCormack set up the winner seven minutes from time. The goal again came from a set-piece when McCormack's quick thinking found McDonald who fired the ball beyond Maanoja from inside the area.
