Article body
Germany scored seven goals to overwhelm Luxembourg at Stade Josy Barthel in 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Championship Group 9.
First-half onslaught
The visiting side found the net six times in the first half with Rouwen Hennings (2), Jan Rosenthal (2), Marc-André Kruska and Baris Özbek all getting on the scoresheet. Hennings opened the scoring within the first ten minutes following an Özbek cross. Three minutes later it was 2-0 with captain Kruska converting a penalty. Two headers by Rosenthal made it 4-0 midway through the first half, before Özbek collected a rebound off the crossbar to make it five after the half-hour mark. Hennings added a sixth before the interval, turning in the box and firing in.
Second place
Germany took their foot off the pedal in the second half and had to be content with Dejagah's shot from 25 metres seconds from full time. Germany stay in second place, two points behind section leaders Northern Ireland, but with two games in hand. Luxembourg and Germany meet again in their next qualifier on 25 March.
