Two goals from Filip Djordjević proved decisive for Serbia as they picked up their second victory in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 8 in four days.
Djordjević double
Following on from a 3-0 success at home against San Marino on Saturday, last year's finalists in the Netherlands moved to the top of their section as FK Crvena Zvezda striker Djordjević struck on 59 and 69 minutes. Slobodan Krčmarević's side were in control from the off against a Latvian team with only one victory from their opening four games.
Latvia punished
They could not make the most of their chances in the first half, however and Latvia might have taken advantage when Igors Kozlovs found himself in space shortly after the restart. The midfielder fired wide though and Serbia were quick to punish the hosts as half-time substitute Djordjević made the most of a Sergejs Kožans' mistake to head into the net. He added a second ten minutes later with a spectacular low shot from the edge of the area to give Serbia a win that leaves them third in the group, one point behind Hungary and five off leaders Belarus though they have played a game more.
