France remain three points ahead of Romania after the two evenly matched sides played out their second draw of qualifying in Group 10.
Crossbar struck
Despite failing to break down their French visitors, Emil Sandoi's side will not be too disappointed as they still have a game in hand on the section leaders and it was France who had the better of the chances and controlled possession. The nearest either side came to forcing a goal was after 56 minutes when AS Nancy-Lorraine winger Issiar Dia's header hit the crossbar. Earlier in the game, Didier Digard had also missed a presentable chance.
Two draws
Midfielder Gabriel Torje had Romania's best effort, which was well saved by Geoffrey Jourdren. Second-place Romania had already managed a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture in Brest on 1 June which may give them a crucial edge in the head-to-head battle between the sides. Sandoi's team could take top spot if they defeat Malta in their next group game on 17 November, while René Girard's side travel to Wales three days later.
