Germany held up in Tel-Aviv

Israel earned a deserved point against Germany at the Ramat Gan Stadium in front of a record crowd for an Under-21 qualifier in the country.

Some 12,000 spectators saw Israel recover from conceding a 19th-minute goal to Rouwen Hennings by scoring through Maor Bar Buzaglo and Hen Azriel either side of half-time, before Hennings equalised late on.

Early advantage
The first chance of the Group 9 game had fallen to Israel but Buzaglo's free-kick from the edge of the area was turned over the crossbar by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. The visitors then took the lead against the run of play as Israel's defence failed to clear a corner and Hennings fired in from close range.

Buzaglo breakthrough
After Etey Shechter volleyed straight into the hands of Neuer, Israel were rewarded for their efforts on 43 minutes. Shechter sent Yuval Shpungin racing down the right before the full-back delivered a cross that Buzaglo drove low, and first time, into the net.

Late leveller
Israel looked to be on course for a famous victory after 70 minutes when Germany's Andreas Beck misjudged a long ball, enabling substitute Azriel to head past the right-back and goalkeeper before scoring. However, Sami Khedira set up Hennings late on to level matters and keep Germany second in Group 9, two points behind Northern Ireland with a match in hand. Like Germany, Israel have four points but they have played a game more.
