Lorenzo follows Edgar's example

Lorenzo Davids, the cousin of Netherlands star Edgar, has been called into the Jong Oranje squad for the first time for the qualifer against Estonia.

Netherlands coach Foppe de Haan has called up three new faces to take on Estonia on 12 October, with Lorenzo Davids, Dirk Marcellis and Geert-Arend Roorda all in line to make their debuts in the 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifier in Tallinn.

Velthuizen hopeful
NEC Nijmegen defender Davids, 21, is the cousin of AFC Ajax midfielder Edgar, Dirk Marcellis is a 19-year-old defender at PSV Eindhoven while midfielder Roorda, 19, is called up after impressing with SC Heerenveen. BV Vitesse goalkeeper Piet Velthuizen could also make his debut, having twice been named in the squad without playing.

Good start
Kemy Agustien, Ismaïl Aissati, Eljero Elia, Rydell Poepon and John Goossens are left out while defenders Erik Pieters and Ryan Donk are missing through suspension. The Netherlands have kicked off the defence of their U21 title with a pair of 1-0 wins in Group 5, most recently against Norway.
