An Andrew Waterworth goal 16 minutes from time earned Northern Ireland a hard-fought 2-1 victory away to Luxembourg as Roy Millar's team were force to come from behind in Beggen.
Fordyce equaliser
The home side held the lead for almost half the match after Chris Sagramola broke the deadlock on nine minutes, capitalising on a mistake from goalkeeper Jonathan Tuffey. It lifted Luxembourg but Northern Ireland gradually came into the match and in a remarkable spell Daryl Fordyce, Kieran McKenna and Thomas Stewart were all denied by the woodwork. The visitors finally equalised eight minutes after the restart through Fordyce before substitute Waterworth earned the points late on.
