Lithuania make their point

Lithuania marked their opening home game in 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification by picking up their first point against Slovenia in Group 6.

Injury problems
Lithuania, who were without five regulars due to injuries, had already lost 2-1 in Slovenia and 4-0 in Denmark while the visitors' win in the reverse fixture was their only Group 6 game to date. Neither side seemed to settle in the first-half but there were more goalmouth opportunities after the break with both teams looking to attack. But the two goalkeepers, Lithuania's Giedrius Arlauskis and Slovenia's Safet Jahić, produced flawless displays, saving their teams on several occasions.
