Derdiyok opener
With holders the Netherlands having won both of their opening games, Switzerland were determined to make a positive start of their own as they look to qualify for the 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. The home side were superior from the off, and it was no surprise when Eren Derdiyok fired them in front after 35 minutes.
Three sent off
Chances went begging at either end before Zlatkowski levelled, and three players were sent off by Scottish referee William Collum. Zlatkowski and Daniel Mojsov were dismissed for the visitors, while Gelson Fernandes saw red for Switzerland. The midfielder made his debut for the senior team on 22 August, impressing in a 2-1 defeat of the Netherlands.
