Ibričić ignites impressive comeback

Senijad Ibričić, Edin Džeko and Avdija Vršalević were all on target as Bosnia-Herzegovina held off a spirited Armenia to begin their UEFA European Under-21 Championship campaign with a 3-2 victory in Zenica.

Shock start
The home side made a sluggish start, however, and fell behind after 12 minutes when Aleksandr Petrosyan fired in an opportunistic strike. Bosnia-Herzegovina were soon level as Ibričić found the net with a fine free-kick and they went into half-time with a 2-1 lead after Džeko tapped in following a mazy run by Marko Maksimović. They pushed forward in search of a third goal after the restart but did not find it until eight minutes from time when Vršalević converted Jusuf Dajić's cross.

Norway await
Having begun the match so brightly, Armenia also finished on a positive note with Gevorg Ghazaryan making it 3-2 deep into injury time to raise hopes ahead of their next outing against Norway in Yerevan on 2 September. The Scandinavians will be favourites, though, and should everything go to form, their game at home to Bosnia-Herzegovina four days later will decide Group 1.
