Positive result
Having won 3-2 in Belarus on Friday, the Moldovans followed that up with another positive result this afternoon. The impressive week’s work moves them on to four points in Group 5 and makes up for a disappointing start after they lost their first two fixtures last month. The picture looks bleaker for Scotland, who occupy last place with just two points from their first three outings.
Porfireanu profligate
Both teams had their chances in the first half with Andrei Porfireanu sending a fierce drive just wide for the home side while David Clarkson and Jamie McCunnie spurned bright moments for the visitors. It was an even contest after the interval as well, with Simon Lappin going close with a free-kick before Porfireanu again missed when well-placed.
