Sweden secured a 6-0 win against San Marino that keeps the pressure on UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 4 leaders Poland.
Five first-half goals
Alexander Farnerud was the star of the show as he set up the first three goals. Per Nilsson made it 1-0 on 22 minutes and within 60 seconds it was 2-0 thanks to Mikael Antonssons. Johan Anderssons scored in the 34th minute and at the end of the half Stefan Ishizaki and Jon Jönsson were both on target.
Superiority underline
Farnerud capped his performance with a goal of his own eight minutes after the break, and although that was the end of the scoring, the shot count of 33-1 to Sweden underlined their superiority.
'Very focused'
Home coach Torbjörn Nilsson said: "The guys were very focused during the first half. I just had to lean back and enjoy the show." Meanwhile his goalkeeper John Alvbåge - who did not touch the ball until the 45th minute - admitted: "I have had tougher games."
Tuesday showdown
In second place and three points behind leaders Poland with two games left, Sweden must beat the leaders in Wodzislaw Slaski on Tuesday to retain realistic hopes of winning the group.
