Czechs eyeing last four

The Czech Republic will be looking for more of the same tonight when they take on Greece in Lausanne having restored confidence with a 1-0 victory over Belgium in their second outing at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

Semi-final place at stake
Coach Miroslav Beránek made six changes against Belgium from the team that had begun their campaign with defeat against France and the chances are he will make more tonight as the Czechs look to confirm their place in the semi-finals. One definite change will be to replace defensive midfield player Petr Vorísek, who is suspended.

'Three changes'
It might come down to goal difference to decide the first two places in the group and for that reason Beránek looks certain to pep up his attack. "There might be three changes - possibly two in attack and one in defence," said team manager Peter Doleyal.

Draw could be enough
It is a game they have to win, said Doleyal, although in reality a draw will be enough should France defeat Belgium. "We have to keep up the form we showed against Belgium," he added. "If we want to go forward in the competition we cannot afford any slips now."

At full strength
Greece are in the worst position of the four teams going into tonight’s final fixtures in Group 2 having lost both their opening games. At least coach Andreas Michalopoulos can field a full-strength team without injuries and suspensions to contend with.

Big push
But it will take a big push from Greece now to put themselves in contention and irrespective of their result in the Stade Olympique "La Pontaise" they will be eliminated should Belgium pick up a point against France.
