Ukraine 1-1 Switzerland
Artem Putivtsev's strike earned Ukraine a 1-1 draw against fellow UEFA European Under-21 Championship finalists Switzerland in a friendly fixture in Malta.
Pavlo Yakovenko's Ukraine had the upper hand throughout the match but conceded first, when Grasshopper-Club striker Innocent Emeghara pounced on a defensive slip on 20 minutes. Ukraine were nonetheless back on terms 15 minutes later from a typically dangerous set piece, with FC Illychivets Mariupil striker Putivtsev heading in from Volodymyr Lysenko's delivery.
Switzerland went close through an Emeghara header, but Pierluigi Tami's men were under the cosh thereafter, with Bohdan Butko and Oleg Golodyuk both passing up good chances and FC Dynamo Kyiv forward Roman Zozulya failing to profit from two one-on-one situations.
The U21 finals will be staged in Denmark from 11-25 June this year.
