Denmark coach Keld Bordinggaard praised match-winner Nikolai Jørgensen after the fleet-footed winger gave the tournament hosts a welcome 2-1 win against Belarus, whose coach, Georgi Kondratyev, promised his players would continue to work towards qualifying for the semi-finals.

We expected to dominate today, because Belarus like to sit back and kill teams on the counterattack. They're very good at that. Our goal was to win today, so I'm happy about the result. I thought we might have problems because Belarus did the only thing we feared, hitting us with a quick counterattack. But when we got the goal back within a minute, I knew that with the support we had in the stadium here today, we were on the right track, and that our chances were good.
Nikolai [Jørgensen] has not played much for his club this spring, and I didn't think he had the stamina. I didn't have to doubt him today though. He worked so hard and with quality as well. That was one of our aims today - to have more fast attacking wingers than we had in the first game. He helped us a lot today.
Georgi Kondratyev, Belarus coach
Unfortunately, we made a lot of stupid mistakes in our play, and didn't get any flow into the match. I knew from the beginning that there wouldn't be that many chances. At the moment we scored, the team became vulnerable, and it's very sad that that happened. We're going to continue working hard. It's not the first time that we've been in a disadvantageous position, and we'll work hard as long as we have a chance.
