Section winners Ukraine rounded off their Group 8 campaign unbeaten but were left frustrated in Kyiv after a series of missed opportunities limited them to a share of the spoils with Slovenia.
Pavlo Iakovenko's men booked their progress to October's play-offs on Friday with a nervy 2-2 draw against France and they should have been out of sight by half-time on their return to Obolon Stadium. Time and again, however, Jan Koprivec proved too much of an obstacle in the Slovenia goal.
Mykola Morozyuk and Roman Zozulya both came off second best when left one-on-one with the visiting No1 and Koprivec continued to impress by denying Andriy Yarmolenko just before the break. Slovenia offered more of a threat after the restart, but it was Koprivec's night and, when he kept out Volodymyr Lysenko, he ensured the scoreline would remain 0-0.
