Article body
Denmark missed the chance to overtake Scandinavian neighbours Norway at the top of UEFA European Under-21 Championship Group 2 as they were held to a goalless draw at home by Romania in Farum.
Goalscoring chances
In an even contest, Denmark posed the greater attacking threat, with Jonas Kamper and Dan Thomasen both shooting fractionally too high while Thomas Kallenberg was denied by Hutan, the Romanian goalkeeper. Both sides came close to snatching all three points in the final stages, but Romania's Stunca and Thomas Augustinussen of Denmark were each denied by the crossbar.
Narrow lead
The result moved Denmark level with Norway, with both sides having 16 points from seven games. However, Norway retained top place by virtue of a superior head-to-head record, having defeated the Danes 3-0 in Drammen last September in the first match of the qualifying campaign, and then lost the reverse fixture 2-0 in Farum in June.
One game to go
The top two each have one match to play. Denmark travel to third-placed Bosnia-Herzegovina on 10 October, while Norway take on the group's bottom side, Luxembourg, the same night. Romania, meanwhile, finished in fourth position in the group with seven points from their eight games.
