Serbia and Montenegro's Under-21 side made a winning start under their new name with a 3-0 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying victory against Azerbaijan.
Into third
The win lifted the Serbo-Montenegrin side, formerly known as Yugoslavia, into third place in Group 9, with four points from three games. It was not all plain sailing though in front of a 4,000-strong crowd in Niksic tonight as the home side had to wait until the 53rd minute to find the net.
Three quick goals
Home nerves were eased once the opening goal came from Ivan Boskovic and within a quarter of an hour Serbia and Montenegro had put the game beyond doubt. Further efforts from the influential Dejan Milovanovic and then Srdjan Radonjic wrapped up the three points.
