All four teams in Group 7 of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship elite round are level on three points following hosts Austria's 2-0 win against Serbia.
Austria, who sat bottom of the group at the start of the day after opening with defeat by Switzerland, immediately signalled their intent in Schwaz by starting with a three-pronged attack. Andreas Weimann spurned their only notable chance of the opening period, though, while Predrag Stevanović passed up Serbia's best opening of the first 45 minutes.
The game's turning point arrived four minutes before the break when Saša Marković was dismissed for a second yellow card. It took Austria 25 minutes of the second half to find a breakthrough, Christian Klem's 25-metre shot finding its way into Marko Dmitrović's net.
It was not until the 90th minute that Andreas Heraf's side sealed the result through Christoph Knasmüllner's close-range finish to move to the top of the group – albeit level on points with the other three teams – ahead of their final elite round fixture against Denmark on Sunday. Serbia play Switzerland on the same day.
