Finalists in the 2008/09 competition, Ukraine and England will meet again in this season's edition after being paired together in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship Elite round following the draw in Nyon, with the Republic of Ireland and Bosnia-Herzegovina filling the other two berths in Group 3.

Quick rematch
Ukraine beat England 2-0 in front of a 25,000-strong crowd in Donetsk on 2 August this year to become the first nation to win the tournament as hosts – a good omen for 2005 winners France, who will hold next year's finals. Four-time champions at this level, Spain were handed a less intense draw, joining Norway, Turkey and Azerbaijan in Group 4, while Germany, who took the title in 2008, will take on the Netherlands, Slovakia and Poland in Group 6. The top side in each section will progress to the final tournament, to be held next summer in France with the hosts qualifying automatically.
