Swiss start campaign in style

Switzerland came from behind to defeat the Korean Republic in their FIFA World Youth Championship opener.

Goran Antic and Johan Vonlanthen were both on target as Switzerland came from a goal down to claim all three points in their FIFA World Youth Championship opener against the Korean Republic.

Rapid response
After a frenetic opening period the Swiss found themselves a goal down on 26 minutes when Shin Young-Rok tapped in from close range. But two goals within the next seven minutes enabled Switzerland to claim maximum points. Ancic slid in to equalise on 28 minutes before Vonlanthen headed in Reto Ziegler's cross to score what proved to be the winning goal five minutes later.

Brazilian test
The win moves Pierre-André Schürmann's team to the top of Group F, two points ahead of Brazil and Nigeria who played out a goalless draw earlier in the day. Switzerland take on Brazil on Wednesday knowing victory will see them progress to the Round of 16, while the Korean Republic will require a similar result against Nigeria to maintain their hopes of qualification.
