Crunch clash
Romania went into the crunch Group 11 clash at the Lisp stadium two points clear of their hosts, but their qualification hopes were shattered by ruthless Belgian finishing. Koen Van Der Heyden gave the Red Devils the lead after just five minutes and further goals from Styn Janssens (46 minutes) and Kevin Vandenbergh (89) saw the hosts leapfrog their rivals and win the group.
Yugoslavia draw
The other final Group 11 game ended all-square as Israel and Yugoslavia drew 0-0. The Yugoslavians therefore finished third with seven points and Israel last with four points.
