Ukraine coach Yuriy Kalitvintsev entered the post-match press conference to a round of applause after Serhiy Rybalka's late winner took the hosts into the UEFA European Under-19 Championship semi-finals at the expense of Switzerland, whose coach Claude Ryf admitted the better side had gone through. England's Brian Eastick, whose charges established a new record margin of victory in a finals game, was left to look back on a "clinical" performance, while Slovenia's Miloš Kostič could only wonder what might have been. uefa.com hears from the four Group A coaches.

SWITZERLAND 0-1 UKRAINE
Yuriy Kalitvintsev, Ukraine coach
I'm very happy to have been greeted with the applause of the journalists here tonight; after our match against England you did it after the press conference – not before. This is really an enjoyable moment for every coach. There is nothing worse than missing a scoring chance. We were doing really well before the break, and we should have scored at least half of our chances. I want to thank my lads for that saving goal; in spite of being a man down they have got the result. The semi-final is our immediate goal – let's see what happens.

Claude Ryf, Switzerland coach
Ukraine were stronger than us, were more confident and played much better than we did today. Congratulations to Ukraine; they were under a lot of pressure and they found the power inside to play attacking football and win. As a coach I know it's very difficult to play under stress. The very opportunity to compete here with best European teams has given us priceless experience. I am sure it will help these young players succeed as professionals. For my players it was a very good chance to get experience and I hope in three years, four or five players from this team will be here with Switzerland for the European Championship.

SLOVENIA 1-7 ENGLAND
Brian Eastick, England coach

The game looks very conclusive in the end but Slovenia had the best chance in the first ten minutes and had they scored that, maybe the game would have been different. But after that we played some very good football and we were clinical in front of goal, our finishing was very good. I don't think anybody could deny the fact that over the 90 minutes we were the better team. I was particularly pleased because we have one player who has to go back home tomorrow through injury and two other players who were not available today. We don't have any centre-halves, the full-backs are playing there and we had those three players out today but the ones who came in did a very good job for us.

Miloš Kostič, Slovenia coach
After a game like that it's very difficult to say something clever or smart. We had a great chance at 0-0 and didn't score, and in the next few minutes we went a goal down. At 2-0 we had another great opportunity to pull a goal back – England scored with their next chance to make it 3-0. England played very well. We came here in good heart and it's very difficult for Slovenia. We're a very small country, we don't have as many big players as big countries like England and Ukraine. We did a great job qualifying for the final tournament and came here to play the best football we could. I'm very satisfied with my players, I'm proud of them. I'm satisfied with the tournament because it's been a really good experience for my players and for me as well.
