I have been with UEFA.com since its inception and have attended eight UEFA Champions League finals – Lisbon will be my ninth – but covering a UEFA final tournament on home soil has been a memorable journey which I will always treasure.
It was an honour for Malta to be chosen as UEFA European Under-17 Championship hosts and I must pay credit to our association for the smooth organisation. UEFA has helped us to make it a success every step of the way. From a personal point of view, it has been thrilling to live and breathe the tournament from the inside.
I have relished working every day with UEFA.com colleagues who I have spent the last decade conversing with via email. I have also been proud of all the local guys who I normally bump into on my everyday duties – they have done a fine job.
Though I have been fortunate enough to cover all manner of football events both at home and abroad, this will rank as one of my career highlights. Tournaments like this do not come along very often to an island like ours, and it has been a privilege to follow the finals close up. The football has been superb, the people a pleasure and the photographs not too bad either!
