Two-time winners the Netherlands and Georgia are the latest teams through to the UEFA European Under-17 Championship elite round after seeing off the challenges of the Faroe Islands and San Marino in Tbilisi.
Both sides were already assured of a top-two berth in Group 11 going into the final day before the Netherlands edged Georgia 1-0 to clinch top spot courtesy of Marlon Slabbekoorn's third goal in as many outings. The Faroe Islands finished third, meanwhile, after prevailing by the same scoreline against San Marino.
On Thursday, the Jong Oranje consigned the Faroes to a 4-0 reverse, while Georgia dispatched San Marino 3-1. Two days later San Marino fell to a joint competition record 12-0 defeat by the Netherlands, half-time substitute Ezra Walian weighing in with five goals. Georgia also ensured a smooth passage to the elite round, strikes from Beka Mikeltadze and Giorgi Jobava seeing off the Faroe Islands 2-0.
