Georgia's hopes of qualifying for the UEFA European Under-17 Championship are over but they bowed out with credit after drawing with Ukraine.
A victory could still have given Georgia a chance of first place in elite round Group 1. They were not able to achieve that but two Valeri Kazaishvili goals ensured they pipped their opponents to third.
Ukraine were without a point before kick-off and not long after the interval fell behind when Archil Tvildiani set up Kazaishvili. Ukraine raised their game and equalised just past the hour through substitute Yasyn Khamid after good work from fellow replacement Rostislav Bagdasarov.
In the 71st minute Ukraine had the lead as Levan Gachechiladze fouled Ivan Lukanyuk in the box and the No10 stepped up to convert. However, Georgia secured a point two minutes from time, also from the spot, Kazaishvili levelling after Daviti Khujadze was felled by goalkeeper Yevheniy Volynets.
