The Elite round Group 5 hosts trailed Italy by three points at kick off, and not only needed to defeat eliminated Scotland but also required the Azzurrini to fall to Georgia. Djuricic strikes early in each half kept Austria's end of the bargain but Italy prevailed 1-0 to earn a place in May's finals in Germany.
