Wales ended their UEFA European Under-17 Championship Elite round Group 6 campaign with a comfortable win against Romania but both teams are out.
Turkey through
Going into the last set of fixtures in Turkey, Romania were on four points, Finland three, the hosts two and Wales one. Although their hopes were effectively over, Wales pushed hard and took the lead with a long-range Lee Lucas effort just before the half-hour. Joe Walsh headed in a 38th-minute corner, and Elliott Chamberlain set up Josh Dawkin for the third after the break, and Romania's attempts to get back into the game were repelled by Wales goalkeeper Connor Roberts. Turkey finished top of the group with a 2-0 defeat of Finland, a point ahead of both Romania and second-placed Wales, who twice led the Turkish hosts on Matchday 1, only to be pegged back each time as the game ended 2-2.
