2009 final tournament

The 2009 UEFA European Under-17 Championship will be held in Germany from 6-18 May. Markranstadt, Grimma, Torgau, Dessau, Sandersdorf, Taucha, Jena, Meuselwitz, Erfurt, Gera, Gotha and Magdeburg will all stage matches.

The 2009 UEFA European Under-17 Championship will be held in Germany from 6-18 May with the slogan 'Fußball kennt keine Grenzen' – football knows no borders. Hosts Germany have been drawn in Group B with Turkey, England and the Netherlands, holders Spain are in Group A with Italy, France and Switzerland.

Venues

Twelve eastern German towns in all will stage matches during the finals: 2003 UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship venues Markranstadt, Taucha, Grimma and Torgau plus Dessau-Rosslau, Sandersdorf, Jena, Meuselwitz, Erfurt, Gera, Gotha and Magdeburg. The semi-finals will be played in Dessau-Rosslau and Grimma on 15 May with the decider at the 25,000-capacity Stadion Magdeburg, completed in 2006. A schedule can be seen by clicking here.

Tickets

Tickets for the finals are priced between €2 and €8. For those buying for a youth group, there is one free ticket for every four purchased. Wheelchair users can buy a ticket for €4 which includes free admission for an escort.

Media Accreditation

All written press reporters, photographers, radio and TV representatives wishing to attend the final tournament are requested to apply for accreditation via email to u17media@dfb.de no later than Sunday 26 April.

Scouting

A number of tickets will be reserved for each match to serve the needs of scouts at the UEFA European Under-17 Championship. Tickets can be ordered by email from U-17scouts@uefa.ch from 6-29 April. A maximum of two tickets can be ordered per club/organisation for each game. Due to limited stadium capacity the number of tickets per club may be restricted to one for some games. Tickets will be complimentary but do not include hospitality or parking. Tickets will be available for collection in the stadiums on matchday at the main entrance over the 'scout' counter upon presentation of a valid club/organisation ID.

Schools/cultural events

The German Football Association (DFB) is helping local schools in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia use the tournament to promote the themes of tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Click here for more details and here to download a flyer.

Cultural events are also being arranged around the finals including a partnership with the Leipzig Gewandhaus children's choir and the Jena Philharmonic, culminating in concerts in Leipzig on 9 May and Jena the following afternoon. Clickhere for more details.
