Real Sociedad de Fútbol 0-1 Bayer 04 Leverkusen
Nine hundred supporters saw Joseba Tarantino's 51st-minute own goal settle the contest. Leverkusen, beaten 5-1 by La Real on matchday two, move off the foot of the table as a result and above Manchester United FC, who on Monday drew 1-1 with FC Shakhtar Dontesk, a result which sealed the Ukrainian side's qualification as runners-up. "We're happy because we finished top of the group," said La Real coach Jon Arrillaga.

Galatasaray AŞ 0-5 Juventus
The Bianconeri's emphatic win was ultimately in vain following FC København's victory in the other game. Younes Bnou-Marzouk stole the show for Juventus, scoring a 14-minute hat-trick in the second half, his first and second goals sandwiching an effort from substitute Anastasios Donis. Alhassane Soumah had put Andrea Zanchetta's charges ahead on the quarter-hour mark.

FC København 3-2 Real Madrid CF
København joined Madrid in the last 16 following a match which turned on the 60th-minute dismissal of the visitors' goalkeeper David Oliveros. Leading 2-1 at that point courtesy of strikes from Felipe Sáez Carrillo and Marcos Legaz, the Spanish team were reduced to ten men when Oliveros fouled Brandur Olsen just outside the penalty area. With the numerical advantage, FCK piled on the pressure, captain Mikkel Wohlgemuth levelling from the spot and Marcus Mathisen giving them the lead for the second time with a little over a quarter of an hour remaining.

SL Benfica 1-1 Paris Saint-Germain
Paris gained the point they required to qualify as runners-up behind their opponents – thanks to Jean-Kévin Augustin's added-time equaliser. Benfica started positively, opening the scoring on 14 minutes when Gonçalo Guedes acrobatically hooked in the rebound after João Nunes had headed against the crossbar. The French side controlled the play thereafter without fashioning anything of note and might have fallen further behind before half-time. The pattern of play continued after the break, but, with time running out, a long ball into the hosts' penalty area fell at the feet of Augustin and the forward made no mistake.

FC Viktoria Plzeň 0-2 PFC CSKA Moskva
The visitors produced a disciplined display to advance as section winners. Svyatoslav Georgievski opened the scoring after eight minutes and doubled his tally in the second period as CSKA limited their opponents to speculative efforts. "We've played in a very tough group and done really well to win it," enthused coach Alexander Grishin. "The home games have attracted big crowds and the players have felt proud to represent their club. Now we're looking forward to the play-off draw, although we won't be setting ourselves any targets."

FC Bayern München 0-0 Manchester City FC
Patrick Vieira's side secured the point they needed to progress alongside CSKA. Bayern needed to win to finish second but could not find a way through, and their misery was compounded when Stefan Hager was shown a second yellow card in added time. "It was fantastic game and I am happy my players have experienced real football," said Vieira. "This had everything they will encounter when they play in the first team in the future – tension, nerves, significance. This is why the Youth League is so important for your young players."

Chelsea FC 5-0 FC Steaua Bucureşti
John Swift gave Chelsea an early lead before Islam Feruz found the net with a stunning long-range strike. Feruz added a second and Alex Kiwomya also got on the scoresheet to effectively end the contest before half-time. Ambrose Gnahore made it five on the hour. Dermot Drummy, whose side won all six group games, said: "I thought Mukhtar Ali was outstanding today. We've kind of given some other boys a little view and a little taste of the next level. It is really pleasing when you get a player like that who shows that intelligence for a 16-year-old."

FC Barcelona 3-0 Celtic FC
Elohor Godswill set Barcelona en route to their fifth win of the campaign, scoring with his second attempt after Max Oberschmidt had saved Enguene's initial shot and his follow-up on the rebound. Celtic's only chance of the second period was a shot wide by Joseph Thomson. Àlex doubled the Blaugrana's advantage 13 minutes from time, with Mohamed El Ouriachi concluding the scoring from the penalty spot late on having been fouled by Jamie Lindsay.
