Manchester City FC captain Marcos Lopes scored a hat-trick for the hosts as they made it two wins from two in Group D.
Following an opening loss to PFC CSKA Moskva, Marc Kienle's FC Bayern München were hoping to get their campaign off the ground, but things did not go to plan as central defender Jason Denayer headed the English team into a sixth-minute lead. Two clinical finishes from Lopes then made it 3-0 before the first quarter of the match had elapsed.
George Glendon's low drive just after the hour extended the advantage, before the skipper completed his treble from the penalty spot. Devante Cole – watched by his father Andrew – rounded off the scoring with a cool finish.
