Defeated on home soil by Chelsea FC in the 2012 UEFA Champions League final, FC Bayern München have a score to settle with the Blues in the UEFA Super Cup according to Manuel Neuer.
Bayern had been beaten in the 2010 showpiece, by FC Internazionale Milano, but looked to have secured victory at the Fußball Arena München in May 2012 when Thomas Müller put them in front with seven minutes remaining. However, Didier Drogba scored a late equaliser for Chelsea, who went on to win on penalties. While Bayern bounced back with victory against Borussia Dortmund in the Wembley showpiece 12 months later, Chelsea secured UEFA Europa League glory in Amsterdam. Now the two will meet in Prague to contest the UEFA Super Cup.
"It's a unique chance for us players to win this trophy," said Neuer. "It's a final, and a match against the Europa League winners, and that's Chelsea. We still have something to clear with them, and take revenge, so hopefully we can win in Prague.
"[Winning the UEFA Champions League] was very important. We would have had a very difficult time if we hadn't done it. Last season we were very motivated, we wanted to finally achieve a lot of success and managed to win the treble, but we could have never lost the final against Dortmund."
