As the UEFA Super Cup ended its stay in Monaco on Friday, former AC Sparta Praha, S.S. Lazio, Juventus and Czech Republic midfielder Pavel Nedvěd shared his delight that the competition's next stop will be Prague.
Nedvěd triumphed in the 1999 UEFA Super Cup as Lazio overcame Manchester United FC in only the second one-off final to be held in Monaco and he expects the Czech capital to be an excellent host city. "I'm extremely happy about the choice of Prague," the 40-year-old said. "I know it very well and I think we have a lot to offer fans who come to visit the city and go to the match.
"We want to show that we are good people and able to stage such events. I was ambassador for the Czech Republic in the bid to stage the [2013 UEFA] European Under-21 Championship. We didn't get that but I think Prague will be a success."
