UEFA has appointed the match officials for Friday's UEFA Super Cup game in Monaco, with Massimo Busacca of Switzerland selected to referee the meeting of FC Internazionale Milano and Club Atlético de Madrid at Stade Louis II.
Busacca, 41, will lead a refereeing team consisting of assistant referees Matthias Arnet and Manuel Navarro, fourth official Sascha Kever, and the two additional assistant referees Stephan Studer and Cyril Zimmermann. The traditional curtain-raiser to the European club competition season, pitting UEFA Champions League winners Internazionale against UEFA Europa League titleholders Atlético, kicks off at 20.45CET.
The Bellinzona-born Busacca, an international referee since 1999, has officiated at a total of 86 UEFA matches in his career. In last season's UEFA Champions League he handled three group stage matches, one first knockout round game, one quarter-final and the semi-final second leg between Olympique Lyonnais and FC Bayern München.
In recent years Busacca has been assigned several prestigious club competition finals and national team matches, including the 2006/07 UEFA Cup final in Glasgow between RCD Espanyol and Sevilla FC, the 2008/09 UEFA Champions League showpiece in Rome between FC Barcelona and Manchester United FC, and the UEFA EURO 2008 semi-final between Germany and Turkey.
